01 / PING PLOTTER

Follow the route.
See the changes.

Track response times across the hops to a destination. Compare latency, jitter, and packet loss with the history below, and review the observations in Insights.

  • Hop-by-hop latency and packet loss
  • History graphs for changes over time
  • Insights alongside the measured results

02 / INTERNET CHECK

Check the connection.
Know where to look next.

Test your router, internet reachability, DNS, and web access in one pass. Read the measured results, a qualified explanation, and suggested next checks together.

  • Router, internet, DNS, and web results
  • A plain-language diagnostic explanation
  • Export a snapshot for a closer look

03 / LAN SCANNER

Find the devices.
Inspect their services.

Discover devices on your selected subnet and inspect the details available for each host. Turn on Scan Services, choose a profile such as Standard, then expand a result to see the services detected.

  • Device addresses and detected vendors
  • Optional service scanning

USEFUL TO KNOW

A few details.

Does Instrument Network Tools include Wi-Fi analysis?

Yes. The Wi-Fi workbench includes signal and noise telemetry, nearby access points, and channel spectrum views. What it can show depends on your Mac’s wireless hardware and the information macOS makes available.

Can it help investigate a slow or unreliable connection?

Internet Check tests several parts of the connection together. Ping Plotter follows latency, jitter, and loss over time, while the Wi-Fi workbench shows nearby channels and signal readings. Each supplies observations about a different part of the network.

Does LAN Scanner check services automatically?

Service scanning is optional. Enable Scan Services and choose a service scan profile, such as Standard, before starting the scan. Results depend on which devices respond and which services they expose on the selected subnet.

Do the diagnostics contact the network?

Yes. Checks send requests to the host, resolver, or service involved in the test. Speed tests transfer data, and device discovery examines your selected local subnet.
